🔵  Are We There Yet? Art Exhibition by Bernadette Doolan

Mourne Seafood Bar

Mourne Seafood Bar in Belfast is a celebration of fresh, sustainable seafood, with a  pledge to champion local produce. We chose a number of the smaller sharing-style dishes for a delicious seafood lunch. Cocktails to start;  a stunningly good White Negroni, a salty citrus Deep Blue, & an elegantly floral Watch The Birdie.

These were accompanied by a few tasty nibbles-Breads, Tapenade & Butter, Crispy Whitebait, & Smoked Salmon Pâté with Melba Toast. We then enjoyed some succulent Baked Tuscan Prawns, a Scallop & Citrus Ceviche, & a Large Mussel Pot with cream and garlic. It was great to revisit this City Centre institution & enjoy freshly prepared seafood dishes of such outstanding quality.

Sugarcane Café Bistro

Sugarcane Café Bistro has a new Tapas menu with many Mediterranean favourites; seafood paella, patatas bravas, albondigas, plus some more unique offerings; the dish of vegetable dumplings with an olive & tomato dressing was terrific, & the tomato & goats cheese pies were crispy triangles of flavour.

Head chef, Alicia, ensures that everything is authentically Spanish, and will adapt dishes to suit- she prepared a veggie tortilla, & also sent out some mushroom & herb croquetas. Other standout dishes were the stuffed chicken roll, the chicken wings, and our absolute favourite tapas, Gambas Pil Pil. All washed down with a jug of fruity Sangria, what better way to spend a sunny summer evening.

Are We There Yet?

With creativity at its core, Haller Clarke’s latest project is the first solo exhibition in Belfast by artist Bernadette Doolan. Installed in 35DP, a refurbished city centre office space, this stunning collection of work by award winning artist Bernadette Doolan showcases her figurative work, exploring the fragility of identity in the context of childhood. We were delighted to attend the launch of the exhibition (2-18 June) and to have the opportunity to chat with Bernadette. Truly inspiring.
