Lidl Northern Ireland partners with top mixologist to conjure up a wickedly tasty cocktail this Halloween

Finalist of World Class Bartender of the Year 2021 Cal Byrne mixes a BOOzy cocktail recipe for the most Spooktacular night of the year using Lidl Northern Ireland’s Spirit range.

Lidl Northern Ireland has partnered with world-class bartender Cal Byrne to create a wickedly tasty Halloween cocktail using Lidl’s spirit range, available in all 41 Lidl Northern Ireland stores.

Who is Cal Byrne?

Cal Byrne was born in Galway and raised between Dublin and Kilkenny. Following time at art college in Limerick where Cal Byrne studied fine art and sculpture, Cal opened his own bar, Pharmacia, and assisted in the setup, training and creation of 101 O’Connell St., where he headed to Dublin’s Blind Pig Speakeasy. It was here that he spent two years before Cal Byrne was crowned Diageo Reserve’s World Class Bartender of the Year 2021 Ireland at the National Final and the first-ever Irish bartender to place in the Top 10 of the Diageo World Class competition. Recently Cal has joined the Mercantile Group as Beverage Manager.

The Púca Punch

Inspired by Samhain, the ancient Celtic pagan festival of the dead celebrated on Halloween night, the leading Irish mixologist has created Púca Punch (Púca an Irish Ghost / Spirit in Irish folklore) which includes quintessential Autumnal ingredients.

This spine-tingling cocktail packs a punch with a combination of Lidl’s fruit juice, Korol Premium Vodka and Bitterol Aperitivo, topped with a spine-tingling dash of Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco to create a bright, effervescent drink.

Whether you’re throwing a devilishly delightful dinner party, a scream-worthy house party, or maybe just having some friends over for spine-chilling fun this recipe will definitely impress your guests.

Here is what you will need to recreate this wickedly tasty concoction.

Púca Punch

Serves One

  •           30ml Korol Premium Vodka
  •           20ml Bitterol Aperitivo
  •           40ml Apple, Pear & Raspberry Cold Pressed Juice
  •           5ml Maple Syrup
  •           Soda Water 
  •           Dash of Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco 

Method

1.      Place ice in a glass

2.      Add a small amount of both soda water and Valdobbiadene Superiore Prosecco to the glass

3.      Slowly add the Vodka, Aperitivo, maple and cold pressed juice to the glass

4.      Stir lightly to combine taking care to preserve the bubbles

5.      Garnish with a slice of lemon
