Blank Restaurant, Belfast
A Blank canvas waiting for the artist to create their magnum opus is dripping with potential and anticipation. But rather than working in oils or gouache, the team behind Blank Restaurant in Belfast has conceived an exciting new dining concept celebrating the exceptional produce from suppliers, farmers & growers, big & small, from all provinces of Ireland.
Chef Niall Duffy, working closely with husband & wife team Christina & Jonny Taylor & GM Alex Daley, has produced a hyper seasonal five-course tasting menu, specifying only ingredients & their provenance, so that all is revealed when each dish reaches the table.
Every dish was a revelation – a stunning portrait displaying taste, texture and technique, & as with any work of art, aesthetically pleasing to all the senses. And the wine-pairing perfectly complemented each plate.
We won’t go into detail about each dish, but will let the pictures speak for themselves. Suffice to say, Blank is a masterpiece.
Two Sisters, Belfast
Two Sisters celebrates & showcases the very best artisan food & crafts from small producers across Northern Ireland. Located on Ardenlee Avenue, their mission is to create an inspiring place to shop for genuinely unique, handmade products. Everything they sell is sustainably sourced from independent makers.
Recently, the shop has been extended to create a beautiful cafe space in which to sample Two Sisters’ food & drink. So whether you’re in the mood for a morning coffee & a scone-the Dirty Chai Latte is a terrific ’pick-me-up’, & the Raspberry & White Chocolate Scones are bursting with fruit, or a lunchtime snack-the Deli Counter is crammed with locally produced goodies: we tried the Vegan Roll with salad & a spicy Mexican Chilli Feta Dip, Two Sisters is a great venue to relax, enjoy delicious fare, & support local.
