Top Places to Eat in Belfast

Flannels, Victoria Square, Belfast

An absolute gem in the heart of the City Centre, the Flannels Café on the 2nd floor of Frasers in Victoria Square, is the perfect spot for a sophisticated lunch, glass of wine, or coffee and patisserie.

We chose a couple of the stunningly good Deli Boards to share; the Mezze Platter with lots of delicious Mediterranean vegetarian nibbles, and the “Seacuterie” with smoked salmon, mackerel pâté, prawns in garlic butter and samphire, with Guinness wheaten bread, and a creamy dill and horseradish sauce. All washed down with a chilled Spanish House White, this was a delightful way to spend a lunchtime after some retail therapy.

Buba, Cathedral Quarter, Belfast

Buba Falafel

Buba, an Eastern Mediterranean influenced restaurant which opened its doors in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter in 2018, has been one of our favourite city centre spots. The talented team cook and serve tasty Eastern Mediterranean inspired plates with a wide variety of dishes showcasing exotic produce, flavoursome spices, and rich culinary traditions and techniques.

We loved the infamous Halloumi Fries with Chilli Jam and House Sauce, and the Roasted Stuffed Mushroom with Spinach Pine nut & Za’atar Crumb, with Roasted Garlic Mayonnaise.

Our mains included the Aleppo Pepper Prawn Kebab, served with house pickles, slaw, flatbread & sauces, Buba Spiced Lamb, with Mint Yoghurt, Harissa & Cous Cous, and the Grilled Picanha Steak, with Spiced Buba Butter, Fries & Salad. Everything was beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious!
So, you may not feel inclined at present to jet off abroad, but if you’re missing those wonderful holiday flavours, visit Buba and your tastebuds will be transported to the vibrant eateries of the Mediterranean.
