This Asian fusion vegetarian restaurant has excellent service, colourful eye-popping decor, & sensational meat-free food.
We began with the Kkanpoong Tofu: gochujang glazed bean curd in a poppadom, Cigar Rolls stuffed with ricotta, kimchi & aubergine, Celeriac & Potato salad, & Konchijeu: deliciously oozy mozzarella & charred sweetcorn. We then had Sayur Lodeh: a jackfruit curry with a sweet hit of pickled lychee, a tamarind-rich Pad Thai, & Mandu Tacos topped with aubergine, avocado, Asian greens, mushrooms, salsa verde & smoked cheese. What an absolute pleasure to enjoy healthy food as flavoursome as this. Jumon Dreams indeed!
Sugar Rays
A family friendly restaurant in Dundonald, Sugar Rays offers a variety of delicious food options; from homemade burgers, slow cooked ribs, freshly made pizzas, beef brisket to chicken stacks, & great veggie dishes. The “No Meat Here” veggie burgers are made in house, & we opted for the Hot Top- a spicy bean burger smothered in smoked cheese, jalapeños, tobacco onions & sriracha mayo. Sugar Rays’ “Homeslice” pizzas have a matured sourdough base & we couldn’t resist the “Veggie Queen” with sundried tomato, mozzarella, roast pepper, mushroom, red onion, rocket, pesto, & extra olives, accompanied by a house salad. And we had just enough room for the warm Caramel Crunch Pie with vanilla ice cream, fudge pieces & toffee sauce. Almost treacly, with an oaty biscuit base, this was one of the yummiest desserts we’ve tasted in ages!

She is the founder of Mon Petit Chou: a baking blog where she shares tips for her delicious sweet treats & takes orders for her incredible macarons. We ordered a box of 12 handmade authentic French macarons in three exclusive flavours: Tonka Bean Chocolate, Raspberry and Rose, and Lemon and Elderflower. J’en ai l’eau à la bouche!!
