Top Places to Eat in Northern Ireland

Gnostic, Belfast

Situated in Belfast City Quays, Gnostic Bar & Restaurant is an excellent addition to the culinary scene in this expanding quarter.

We called in to try the Small Plates selection, & were very impressed with the dishes on offer. The Asian Crispy Duck Salad was a definite winner, as were the Spiced Panisse Tacos, & we were delighted to find a great favourite of ours, Fried Green Olives, on the menu.

The Charred Broccolini with miso mayo & a soft poached egg, & the Mac & Beer Cheese with whipped feta were terrific vegetarian options.

Hoose, Newtownards Road, Belfast

Using only the freshest local produce, Hoose Restaurant on the Newtownards Road delivers classic dishes & some surprising twists, with exclusive wines & delicious cocktails.

With Veganuary in full swing, we were impressed to see many terrific plant-based options on the menu. The Wild Forest Mushroom risotto was an earthy vegan starter, & the Cauliflower Steak with Roasted Pepper & Olive Salsa on Sweet Potato Wedges was an excellent main course choice.

For dessert, the Coconut & Chocolate Torte with vegan ice cream was a little touch of luxury to finish the meal.

Shout of the Week

Claire Dundas Reflexology

At the end of, let’s say, an unpredictable 2021, we felt we needed some new strategies to help ‘de-stress’, so reflexology seemed like an interesting option.

Claire Dundas has recently set up her new business locally & is keen to take on new clients. As part of a relaxing foot massage, she can identify & highlight areas of stress throughout your body.

You will be welcomed into Claire’s home, where the calm & warm reflexology room is the perfect venue for this relaxing treatment.
