Flame

Situated in the city centre, Flame Restaurant is a lively venue with a sense of theatre due to an open kitchen affording the diner full view of the chefs at work. Flame offers a terrific “Pre-Theatre” Deal: a snip at £18 for two courses, or £22 for three. The Cauliflower Tempura had crisp seasoned florets with curried veganaise, & the Prawn Cocktail was served with Guinness wheaten. Our main courses were Beer Battered Fish with chunky chips, and a pan-fried Vegan Steak; Flame’s unique recipe of a chickpea-based steak with a coating of sweet organic maple & smoked paprika, & cashew nut peppercorn cream. Flame is a great value spot for a bite to eat before a concert or show.

2Taps

2Taps Winebar & Restaurant in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter creates summer all year round, & we love the warm welcome, Mediterranean vibes, & delicious tapas. We began witha selection of breads with basil pesto, tapenade, olive oil & balsamic vinegar, & Pimientos del Padrón with mojo picon dip. The Pickled Mackerel with peppers, onions, & chilli oil is a great new dish, & the Gambas Pil Pil are a classic Spanish favourite. From the vegan menu, we chose Flat Cap Mushrooms with basil pesto, & tofu, and a smoky Moroccan Vegetable Tagine. All accompanied by Patatas Bravas, Ensalada Halloumi, & a carafe of chilled Tempranillo, this was a lovely sharing-style meal.

Penelope Flowers

Penelope Flowers Belfast has a modern, spacious design allowing fresh flowers and plants to be displayed on the shop floor, making it easy to appreciate the beauty & fragrance of each individual bloom. Customers can select their own flowers or alternatively call on the knowledge & expertise of the house florists who are always more than happy to help. We had a wonderful bouquet created by one of the team, & it was stunning. Also, the fabulous “Boy Smells” candles are currently on special offer with up to 30% off; we couldn’t resist the “Rhubarb Smoke” with the scent of papyrus mixed with burning incense & brewing black tea.
