Top Places to Eat in Northern Ireland

2Taps, Belfast

2Taps Winebar & Restaurant in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter creates the atmosphere of summer even in the depths of December, & we love the warm welcome, Mediterranean vibes, & delicious sharing plates. We began with Panes Planos; grilled flat bread, with basil pesto, aioli, smoked sundried tomato & black olive tapenade, & Pimientos del Padrón with grated Manchego, followed by a selection from the tapas menu: Brocheta de Pollo, Gambas, Calamares, & Pescado del dia-a pan-seared fillet of seabass.

All accompanied by Patatas Bravas, Ensalada Halloumi, & a large jug of Sangria, this was the perfect way to beat the blues on a chilly winter’s night!

Olivers at Knock, Belfast

We called into Oliver’s on the Newtownards Road for a pre-Christmas lunch, starting with a few cocktails- the Margarita was a spot-on combination of salt & citrus, & the Parma 75 was Parma Violets in a glass! We chose a couple of starters-the light and refreshing Beetroot and Gin Cured Salmon, & the Bang Bang Prawn Tacos. To follow, the Roast Fennel Risotto was perfect winter comfort food, & the Sweet Potato & Mushroom Pie was an excellent veggie Christmas main. For fish lovers, the Pan-Fried Salmon with Roast Miso Corn, Charred Bok Choi, & Soba Noodles is an Asian delight.
