Home

On Belfast’s Wellington Place, Home serves feel good food, traditional favourites, seasonal dishes & specials. We chose from the Sunday Set Menu. The starters were excellent, from the Potted Duck Confit, to the Tandoori Spiced Crispy Tofu, but the Grilled King Scampi was exceptional: plump, juicy prawns sizzling in a chilli & garlic oil with toasted sourdough. To follow, Home’s Roast Chicken with seasonal veg, roasties, Yorkshire pudding & red wine jus was simply delicious, & the Hake on Truffle Mash was served with a Madeira & Mushroom Velouté. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the Dark Chocolate & Coconut Pot, & the Duo of Irish Cheeses. We’ll be ‘Home’ward Bound again in the very near future for more terrific food, drink & service.

The Bowery

We were recently invited to try out The Bowery’s new restaurant menu. After some discussion with our waiter (we were spoilt for choice as everything sounded so delicious), we decided to go for two seafood starters, the Crab & Crayfish on wheaten with pickled cucumber, & the Gambas, both of which were excellent. For mains, we had the Plant Burger topped with vegan halloumi, served with tangy tomato relish & golden home-cut chips, & the Seabass with samphire & mussels in a creamy sauce. Expect a warm welcome, stunning décor & exceptional service from all the team.

Carolyn Stewart’s Jamaican Patties

We had the pleasure of meeting up with the fabulous Carolyn Stewart to try her Jamaican Patties. The delicious buttery pastries are packed with either a spiced meat, chicken or vegetable filling, & they would be incredible served with some of Carolyn’s award-winning, spicy & fruity, Chilli Pickles. The Patties & her other fantastic Caribbean-influenced products, which are abundant with chilli infusions of vegetables & fruits to tingle your tastebuds & add a fragrant spiciness to any dish, are currently available at various delis in Belfast & the surrounding areas.
