SIX BY NICO
Ancient Rome
The team from Six by Nico have been unearthing ancient Roman recipes to create a historically-adapted menu that brings their gastronomical creations to life for the 21st century. From the immersive six course menu we loved the Roasted Hispi Cabbage, Cavatelli Pasta, Pickled Chanterelle Mushrooms, Truffle Foam & Pecorino Sardo; & the dessert of Honey Parfait, Ricotta Cheese Mousse, Preserved Quince, Fizzy Muscat Grape, Pear & Citrus, & a Honey Tuile. We canโt wait to jet off to โHollywoodโ for their next culinary blockbuster.
The Belmont Bistro
The โSmall Plates Menuโ at the newly revamped Belmont Bistro makes this East Belfast eatery the perfect spot for a light lunch with a glass of wine. The tapas-style menu is terrific value with any four small plates for ยฃ20. We had the Fish Tacos, crammed full of haddock, prawns, salad, guacamole & drizzled with sriracha, the Mushroom Bruschetta with goatโs cheese, the Salt & Chilli Squid with crispy slaw, & a creamy Prawn Risotto. We would also recommend the charred Padron Peppers, Warm Goats Cheese Salad, & the Zaโatar Halloumi Fries.
Long Meadow Cider
For many years, the orchard in The Long Meadow was known locally for the quality of its Bramley apples & is part of the farm owned by the McKeever family. Their delicious cider is pressed, fermented & produced naturally at Long Meadow Farm. The big sellers are the Medium, Blossom Burst, Rhubarb & Honey, & Berry Blast, but we were mightily impressed by the small batch Oak Aged Cider which has been traditionally crafted in Irish oak barrels for maturity. We would thoroughly recommend the Long Meadow Cider tour to see the whole cider process from start to finish; blue skies, apple blossom, the aroma of freshly baked bread, & deliciously refreshing cider- a truly enjoyable, interactive experience set in the heart of the Orchard County.
