Millar’s Restaurant

Millar’s Restaurant is a great new Bistro on the Lisburn Rd.

Millars Belfast

From start to finish, the faultless service, tasteful decor, delicious food, and superb drinks selection, ensured that we’ll be returning to Millar’s in the very near future. We loved the unctuous Wild Mushroom Risotto with a hint of earthy truffle topped with a Parmesan crisp, and the Roast Monkfish on red pepper, chickpea and tomato ragu with herb gnocchi. The dessert menu is so tempting that we found it difficult to choose, but the Coconut Panna Cotta, with torched meringue and pineapple salsa, sprinkled with lime powder and coriander cress was a zingy, refreshing ending to the meal, and the generous cheese selection, with Irish artisanal cheeses, chutney and crackers was exceptional.

Gallery at Malone Boutique Hotel

The Malone Boutique Hotel has spent lockdown completely refurbishing its restaurant and has transformed it into South Belfast’s newest place to eat – Gallery.

Executive Chef Andrew McConnell, has created a menu packed with local, seasonal produce, cooked simply and elegantly for a truly special dining experience.

We particularly enjoyed the fish special; a beautifully fried fillet of cod served with potatoes, pea purée, pickled onions and a little bag of “scraps” which we liberally doused with vinegar for that authentic “chippy” experience! Brilliant!

No 14 at The Georgian House

With the Northern Irish weather finally realizing that summer has arrived, conditions are ideal for outdoor dining, and we love nothing more than to cycle down to Comber to catch up with some friends at one of our favourite restaurants, No 14 at The Georgian House.

What a warm welcome we received, and as the afternoon progressed and the sun continued to shine, we enjoyed course after course of wonderful food and drink from Jim, Paul and their amazing team. Cocktails to order, starter platters of squid, chorizo, breads and olives, fresh sardines barbecued at our table, seared tuna, grilled sea bream, ox cheek with orzo, pork crackling, creme brûlée, petit fours…….. the list of delicious surprises delivered to our table goes on and on! What a glorious way to spend an afternoon.

Product of the week

Gold & Browne’s Brownies

Gold & Browne's brownies

Last week, a small but perfectly formed package was posted through our letterbox! As we untied the ribbon around the beautifully gift-wrapped presentation box, we knew we were in for a treat!

Gold & Browne’s are a small, family-run, local business born from a love of home baking and their homemade brownies are deliciously gooey and indulgent, using the finest 100% sustainable Belgian chocolate, gluten-free flour, locally produced free-range eggs and butter.

The generously sized chocolatey squares are packed full of that intense, glorious cocoa-rich flavour you’d come to expect from a brownie.
